A Phantom Limb

A phantom limb is a reality in an amputees mind. Evaluate a different situation where a reality only exists in a persons mind. Have you every experienced a reality that only existed in your mind?

~When someone creates a situation in there mind, they reason with their brain some kind of reality. Some people create days that did never happened but have an assurance in their own reality. They feel and have great sensation of that where created in their mind. Of course I can not assure you about the reality of this event actually happening because I have my own reality and my own mind. Other situations related to these actions of reality creation, there is the occurrence of perception of the death and how people believe in necromancy. These people have some kind of other reality between a real world and their own reality. This might be because of the nature of actions or the mind of these people…who knows? I can not assure you nothing. Reality have different perspectives in each individual.

~I have not experience a reality in my own mind. But sometimes I create an event on my mind to help me with a social problem or just for fun. These events can be somethings between inventing my yesterdays to framing myself in another picture.

Propaganda Assignment #1

Realm of perseption~~~Death

If something lies outside our realm of perception, then how can we know it?

We’re all going to die someday.

When reality comes to my mind, I think of what I see, feel, hear, taste, and touch; but what are the things that I can percept because I haven’t seen, felt, heard, tasted or have touched it? For example: How I’m I going to experience death? Death its the ultimate frontier for the human logic and credibility. We all know that we are all going to die some day, but what we don’t know its how its it going to be. And in reality we will not ever know who its it going to be because we can’t talk to the dead.

Religion has gave us a idea of how its it going to be and it has have to us “heaven” and “hell”. But not even religion can give us a reality of death. For me its just darkness…when we die all of our senses will not be ours and our conscience will die with our body and brain. Our lives will be over at some point and whatever happens we will create our own reality.

Propaganda Assignment #2

Task: Find a real world example of propaganda with historical significance.

Uncle Sam wants you

Uncle Sam wants you

I found the Biography of Uncle Sam in his own website:

“Wilson was born in Arlington, Mass., on September 13, 1766. His childhood home was in Mason, New Hampshire. In 1789, he and his brother Ebenezer walked to Troy, New York.

During the War of 1812, Wilson was in the business of slaughtering and packing meat. He provided large shipments of meat to the US Army, in barrels that were stamped with the initials “U.S.” Supposedly, someone who saw the “U.S.” stamp suggested — perhaps as a joke — that the initials stood for “Uncle Sam” Wilson. The suggestion that the meat shipments came from “Uncle Sam” led to the idea that Uncle Sam symbolized the federal government.” (Taken from Uncle Sam’s Biography at http://home.nycap.rr.com/content/us_bio.html)

Uncle Sam represents the United States government. He was used to sent messages to the people  of the United States. He carried messages of recruitment, and he had sent messages for the task of saving food. He had been loved by many Americans and used for centuries to come as the symbol of the U.S. Army. Plus, people have been signing up to the Army more since the discovery of Uncle Sam.

The Areas of Knowledge that are present in this poster are emotion and history. The point of his hand makes people realize that he is asking strongly.

Knowledge Issue: North Korea

Identify a knowledge issue associated with North Korea? Justify it as a TOK knowledge issue.

_There is two fronts of North Korea that describe the government. There is the nice and more family-centered that shows that North Korea is not guilty for any of the incidents. And in the other hand there is the hostile North Korea showed  by non-north Korean powers. Of course these two points of view are bias. The knowledge issue is that we can not trust in any of these points of views. Powers out of our reach can’t be understand.

Art

Describe an example of when analyzing art diminished the value of the art.

_When someone analyze a piece of work, they give their own point of view and that diminishes the point of view that the artist gave to the piece of work. For example the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat began his art in the streets of Brooklyn, New York. but there is people that believe that art can’t be diminish and have a one general way to see art more controlled and less creative.

History

Are we being taught “fake” stuff in history? Explain.

I think that our History can be modified by the people that have record it. They can be wrong and we are studying it that way. Our teachers are paid to teach a curriculum that could be fake but we dont have any way to prove that.

Language

Which form of language; written, spoken, or body language; would be most effective to convince someone that the world is round? Explain.

~I think that a written explanation of this matter would be the best way to approach it. If you use some other way of language the consequences could be that people would think that you are crazy, or a debate could take place.

Mathematics

Are mathematical constants (π, e, the golden ratio, etc.) natural or man made? Pick one and explain.

_Man had construct most of the mathematic field by only using the “Natural
” numbers. This numbers were given by God ( this theory was given by ancient Greek philosophers). This number mathematical constants are the study of special equations and rare repetitions of a number, as in the golden ratio. So, man have created their own mathematical constants from the “Natural” numbers.

Human Science

Is religion a human science? Explain.

_”Human science (also, moral science and human sciences as typical in the UK) is a term applied to the investigation of human life and activities by a rational, systematic and verifiable methodology that acknowledges the validity of both data derived by impartial observation of sensory experience (objective phenomena) and data derived by means of impartial observation of psychological experience (subjective phenomena).” (Definition taken from Wikipedia.org)

From what I took from the Wikipedia definition and the presentation, I got that religion is a total different idea from human science. Religion was “created” to answer all the unanswered questions, as in “When its the world going to end?”, “How it will be when I die?”, “How did everything start?”. Most of this questions where answered by religion and not by human science theory question. Religion does not have any thesis or evaluation. Religion is NOT human science.

Natural Science

Describe an example of where you would use the scientific method without using math.

_Whenever I think about nature, and I think about deeper subjects that I can’t even explain myself; I leave it all to science and nature itself. For example, this one time I thought about how things grow and what makes them work in a science class, a couple of years pass. Well, the experiment was meant to show different plants growing in a different plots so, we used methods for it to change as in: how much water, sun and food each of them will have.

Emotion

Describe an example of when fear caused you to reason irrationally.

_When I was a little kid, I used to walk around on the dark mountains of Costa Rica. I was a little adventurer and I had lots of courage. But this one time, in one of midnight walks a snake bit me on my ankle. I was so terrified that I was going to die that I just started running nonsense to nowhere until I passed out and slept the night beneath the stars.

Ethics

Can ethical questions be quantified? Describe an example or counterexample.

_I think that what makes a ethic is a how your parents or superiors have raised you as. Some people take ethics off a religion or a believe. For my own ethics I think of whats looks to be right and what looks to be wrong by looking from every point of view, the effect of the action and the process of the action, etc. For example: If the action is killing a person. Some of the views are: Is the person loved by people, did he do something horrible, its he innocent, etc.
